About Us

840 Opelousas Ave., New Orleans, La. 70114

UpLIFT Nola is located in the beautiful, historic Algiers Point neighborhood on the Westbank of New Orleans. The studio is more than 100 years old and has served the community in numerous capacities, but today it offers a quaint and quiet place to rejuvenate. Our teachers use dynamic mindfulness, meditation, yoga, art and other wellness practices to help students shake off the stress of life and restore balance.

Owners Alan and Michelle Delery are both New Orleans natives. Alan is a Dynamic Mindfulness certified trainer with the Niroga Institute of Oakland, Ca. He has taught restorative approaches and conflict resolution in and around the region for more than 20 years. Michelle is a communications and professional public relations consultant and passionate student of inclusive and restorative yoga. She completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training with the Shanti Yoga Training School and she is a certified Yoga for All instructor.

Iyengar Yoga
Iyengar Class

The world can be so loud and hectic, but through regular yoga practice you can align and calm your mind, body and spirit. UpLIFT NOLA teaches a variety of yoga forms in a non-dogmatic manner that honors and welcomes everyone. From vinyasa and restorative, to power and gentle. We also have special courses for yoga beginners and kids, and we hope you find a practice that meets your needs.

Utilizing active yoga postures, breathing techniques and centering methods, our meditation class helps build greater self-awareness and impulse control while allowing students to better manage stress and anxiety. UpLIFT Nola offers a regular weekly group practice as well as specialized training workshops for educators and those working in school settings.

"Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." -- Picasso

Remember all the hours you spent as a child coloring and letting your imagination go wild? It's never too late to bring back that feeling with our weekly art classes. Using a non-toxic oil painting method, Peggy (who reclaimed her own passion for art after retiring) leads students through a weekly 2-hour class.

UpLIFT Nola has partnered with Nola Mobile Spa, a complete luxury mobile spa service for your every need. Nola Mobile Spa (by Greenstone Therapy) offers treatments for individuals, couples, spa parties, groups, corporate events production companies and much more!

Owner Jade Pappion is a New Orleans native, and through Nola Mobile Spa and Greenstone Therapy she caters to clientele in New Orleans and Los Angeles.

Vinyasa, Prana and Power were her first and most influential loves on the mat. Her current practice is very anatomical, alignment and goal oriented. She recently completed additional yoga certification with Shanti Yoga Shala in New Orleans to expand her proficiency in Gentle Flow, Pregnancy and Restorative Yoga.

Alan Delery

Alan has worked in education, juvenile justice and social services for more than 25 years. In 1993, he founded Positive Impact, a 501c3 youth service organization. He currently serves a specialist with the Center for Restorative Approaches, where he provides direct service as well as trains students, faculty and staff in restorative approaches to conflict.

Alan is a Dynamic Mindfulness certified trainer with the Niroga Institute of Oakland, Ca., and he leads regular group meditation sessions.

Rachel Charbonnet
Yoga (kids)

Rachel is a native of New Orleans who recently returned to the city after receiving her bachelor’s degree in behavioral neuroscience from the University of San Diego. During her four years living in California and studying abroad in Ireland, she developed a passion for yoga, hiking and meditation.

Upon returning to New Orleans to work with children with autism as she prepares for medical school, she received her certification in kids’ yoga from Kidding Around Yoga. “Yoga is such as fun way to calm your mind, flex your muscles and gain strength and focus, and it’s great that I can share those skills with kids.”

Peggy Delery-Pospisil

After retiring from a long career as a licensed clinical social worker, Peggy picked up her paint brush and rekindled her love of art. Her body of work includes scenes of her hometown New Orleans, the historic French Quarter and Louisiana swamps and plantations. “Peggy’s Pearls” are her collection of original paintings on Louisiana oyster shells. While she prefers oil painting, she has also worked with acrylics, watercolors, watercolor batiks, pencil drawings, pastels, pen and ink. She has won numerous awards for her art and she is an active member of the Westbank Art Guild and New Orleans Art Association.
